According to the British Autocar Magazine, Porsche is seriously thinking about launching a relatively affordable EV to become an entry-level replacement for the Taycan. If greenlit, the car still won’t become real until 2025 or later.
Unconfirmed sources have reported that the discussions were mainly focusing on a large “four-door coupe” type of vehicle with a projected price of just £50,000. For comparison, the Taycan starts £20,000 above that amount in the UK.
The new production model – if it does get the approval – will allegedly utilize the PPE architecture of the upcoming A4 E-Tron and Macan EV. This means the powertrains and most of the mechanical parts could be the same, too. The PPE platform supports single-motor RWD builds as well as dual-motor AWD ones.
As for the naming, Porsche might want to use the trademark ‘Cajun’ it registered as far back as 2001. The gallery and the video attached to this news article shows the Porsche Vision Turismo Concept, a likely source of inspiration for the new EV.
