Porsche has shared its plans for the coming years, once again praising the virtues of electrification and promising that by the 2030s, around 80% of the vehicles it sells will be all-electric.
This literally means battery-electric cars (BEVs), not hybrids or compromises of any kind. Microhybrid technology is being integrated into all sorts of cars around Europe nowadays, but Porsche says it will go full-on electric with 80% of its range and hybrid with the rest.
As of right now, the Taycan EV (see video) remains its only electric model on the market. Next up in the release queue are Macan EV and 718 Cayman/Boxster EV. The iconic 911 clings to tradition for now, but will eventually become a hybrid.
By 2025, the German automaker expects electrified and all-electric car sales to constitute 50% of all its sales worldwide. For Europe, this number is already quite close at 40%. Ongoing expansion of the Porsche charging station network and battery production factories should expedite the process.
