Porsche Taycan sets a new world record cooking donuts

The Guinness Book of Records has announced a new record on its official website that a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo set by rotating around its own axis 69 times.

The first attempt to set the record was made on February 3, 2022, but it did not receive any media coverage. Piloting a wagon-shaped Taycan EV, British driver Terry Grant managed to make 69 donuts during the Race of Champions event in Sweden.

As the video clearly shows, the result took some time to achieve. According to Grant, ice and snow particles kicked up by the wheels ended up clogging one of the car’s exterior sensors, leading to an activation of an emergency stop system after just 22 donuts. The stunt driver had to track down the setting and override it to finish the stunt.

A top-of-the-line car was used for the task. Powered by dual electric motors, the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo churns out 761 PS (750 hp / 559 kW) and 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) of torque, which lets it reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds.

There is also another drift-related record in the Taycan portfolio, by the way. In the fall of 2020, a driver of a Taycan sedan managed to cover 42.17 kilometers (26.2 miles) in a single continuous drift attempt.
