Porsche caught testing a 1,000-PS Taycan

The ultimate Porsche Taycan EV has been spotted parked outside. Judging by the aero parts, the prototype vehicle has changed over the past few months. Rumor has it it will debut later this year with 1,000 PS (986 hp / 735 kW) under the hood and a ‘Turbo GT’ model suffix.

The rear wing is gone, replaced with a ducktail spoiler. The front bumper has been revised along with the side sill trims and the large wheels with large brake discs visible behind the spokes. That said, some of the bodywork could be fake.

For the first time on record, the spy photographer has snapped a shot of the cabin. It doesn’t look that much different from the normal Taycan interior, although the dashboard and the steering wheel have been updated. The infotainment system might get an overhaul later on.

It is assumed that the new Turbo GT spec will utilize three electric motors and reside at the very top of the Taycan lineup. Producing a flagship EV like this will enable Porsche to finally bring competition to such carmakers as Lucid and even Tesla, who are already offering high-end sports cars running on battery power. In contrast, the Taycan Turbo S (see video) has 761 PS (750 hp / 559 kW) and needs 2.8 seconds for its standard sprint – not much at all, but nothing special according to the modern EV standards.
