Porsche Taycan improves its own record at the ‘Ring

A Porsche Taycan piloted by one of the company’s in-house drivers has completed a full Nürburgring run in 7 minutes 7.55 seconds, surpassing its previous best time by a whopping 26 seconds. Porsche has neglected to mention the specifics, leaving us to speculate about the car and its specifications.

The new Taycan finished the lap 18 seconds ahead of the range-topping Tesla Model S Plaid, surpassed the results of the Porsche 918 Spyder and the McLaren 720S, and came only 2.25 seconds short of the Rimac Nevera hypercar.

If we had to guess, we’d say it was a Turbo GT spec scheduled to arrive on the market after the planned Taycan facelift. The details about this flagship Taycan modification are still kept secret, but the media expect it to debut with a sophisticated aerodynamic package and between 900–1000 metric horsepower (888–986 hp; 662–735 kW).
