It’s common knowledge that horsepower numbers aren’t all there is to it: in motorsports, weight, aerodynamics, traction and gear switching speeds are just as important. The Lamborghini Huracan easily outperforms the Ram 1500 TRX in these aspects, but what if we gave the latter nearly twice the power?
That’s what DragTimes wished to know. It outfitted the American truck with a Stage 4 upgrade, which saw most of its engine internals replaced with high-end motorsports components. In the end, its output rose to 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 745 kW).
The pickup was allowed to keep its all-wheel-drive transmission and eight-speed automatic gearbox stock, and came to the start line equipped with regular-looking 35-inch tires. Even so, earlier tests showed it being capable of doing a quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds, hitting 209 km/h (130 mph) by the end of the strip.
For its part, the Huracan manages to extract only 610 PS (602 hp / 450 kW) out of its 5.2-liter V10, sending it to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic gearbox. It covers the same distance in 11.1 seconds.
Which one do you think will win the drag race?
