The Carwow team on YouTube never ceases to entertain, does it? In one of his latest videos, Matt Watson has Hennessey’s Mammoth TRX going up against a Bowler-tuned Land Rover Defender, but the duel is a tug-of-war and not a drag race this time around.
Powering the Hennessey truck is a 6.2-liter V8 boosted to colossal 1,025 PS (1,011 hp / 754 kW) and 1,315 Nm (970 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed transmission carries the momentum to the wheels through a diff lock and an AWD system. The truck weighs in at 3,200 kilograms (7,055 lbs).
In turn, the Bowler Defender makes do with a humble 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at just 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. It tips the scales at 2,200 kilos (4,850 lbs), which sounds like an advantage until you realize that for a tug-of-war, higher weight means more stability and pull.
By now, you should probably know who gets to win the contest, so here’s the incentive to watch the video till the end: another Bowler Defender joins the fight against the Hennessey pickup later on, and a third one barges in towards the end.
