Ram 1500 to become an EV

Ram, an American car manufacturer primarily known for its pickups, will reportedly drop its diesel-powered 1500 truck lineup in January 2023.

We are now getting unofficial reports that the company’s smallest pickup will be replaced with an electric version in 2024, called the Ram 1500 EV. It is expected to debut later in the fall and go into production in around 18 months.

If we take a closer look at the EcoDiesel version currently on sale, it has a double cab, four driven wheels, three liters of displacement and 264 PS (260 hp / 194 kW) with 651 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque. The engine used is said to generate the highest torque in its class (1500-series trucks). With its fuel tank full, the diesel-powered Ram 1500 can cover more than 1,600 kilometers (1,000 miles).
