Stellantis Group has announced an urgent recall of Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 series trucks spanning multiple countries.
A tailgate latch was found to be faulty and prone to spontaneous opening during driving. The company emphasized it wasn’t aware of a single incident report or injury connected to the issue, but admitted that the threat was rather high. With heavy cargo falling from the truck bed, a loose tailgate could lead to serious accidents.
Over 800 owners have already contacted the service centers to have the issue fixed. The total number of vehicles affected is estimated at around 1.4 million, the vast majority of them (1,230,000) in the USA, another 120,000 in Canada and the rest in Mexico.
