Most of the campers built by American Expedition Vehicles so far were based on larger double-cab trucks that may look cool, but aren’t as practical in off-road driving due to their overlong cabs and short beds (hence, limited living space). The Prospector XL 550 Adventure Rig seen here is a welcome exception.
The motorhome is hauled by a single-cab Ram pickup and accommodates four passengers. The interior is around four meters (13 feet) long and houses a full-fledged dining area, a kitchen and a bathroom with a toilet. Two beds are suspended in the living area and can be raised and lowered automatically, while two more appear when you unfold the sofa.
The kitchen is particularly impressive with a full-size oven, a microwave oven and a grille present all at once. The remaining space is still enough to fit another large appliance of your choice, be it a fridge or a dishwasher.
Since AEV is known for its off-road accessories and tuning parts, the camper shown here also rocks some. In particular, it has a bull bar at the front, custom-made front fenders, a 2-inch (50-mm) suspension lift, reinforced wheels and tires, a snorkel and a guard plate for the intercooler.
