Having introduced the gas-powered Ram 1500 facelift lineup, Ram has followed up with the unveiling of a particularly powerful all-electric variant: the Ramcharger.
The vehicle packs as many as three power mills – two electric motors rated at 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) front and 324 PS (320 hp / 238 kW) rear are joined by a 3.6-liter V6 acting solely as a power generator. It needs 4.4 seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and gets up to 230 km (143 miles) of all-electric range from its 95-kWh battery pack. Firing up the engine extends that range to 1,110 km (690 miles).
Ram points out that both e-motors come with handy features to make driving on and of the grid more comfortable. The front motor can be switched off at any time to conserve charge, while the rear one can be used as an electronic LSD.
