Renault teases new EV on video

Renault has posted a video teaser of its upcoming Air4 EV Concept, promising a reveal on November 26. The show car will continue the lineup of modern EVs inspired by iconic ICE cars of the past and pay homage to the Renault 4L in particular.

InsideEVs claims that the production will begin in three years’ time. In the video, you can see a badge saying ‘4L’ and another one saying it’s the 60th anniversary of that model. The boxy outlines and round headlamps look unmistakably like the 4L from half a century ago, while vertical DRLs and a glowing logo are obviously modern additions.

The original Renault 4L came out in 1961–1994 and sold over 8 million units in assorted body styles over 28 countries.

Interestingly enough, the post makes mention of TheArsenale, an accessory designer. Its contribution to the project remains unexplained.

When it hits the spotlight in 2024, the Air4 Concept will continue the trend set by the Renault 5, another prototype unveiled at the beginning of this year and penciled in for a release in 2023.
