Renault has unveiled its latest low-end compact hatchback named Kwid as early as 2015; now it plans to issue a special, Marvel DC-inspired series of the car to be sold exclusively in India. Before you complain about territorial injustice: read on.
The first immediately noticeable trait of this new Renault Kwid Super Hero Edition is, doubtlessly, its gaudy paintjob somewhat reminiscent of what Captain America and the Iron Man wear for work. By the way, the limited series is still going to be rather cheap, so it doesn’t take a Tony Stark to afford one of these cars. Luckily.
Predictably enough, Captain America-styled vehicles are painted white with U.S. flag patterns throughout. The hood cover is decorated with the token shield associated with this superhero.
The Tony Stark-themed Renault Kwid gets a body which is golden and red and sports a nice artistic blueprint on its trunk door depicting the reactor that powers the Iron Man suit for all the superhero goodness.
And now for the tech stuff. The stock Renault Kwid is assembled on the CMF-A automotive platform jointly developed by the French Renault and the Japanese Nissan. It is driven by a humble one-liter, three-cylinder engine only capable of 68 horsepower and 91 Nm of torque, at most. Since the manufacturer neglected to mention any kind of performance boost for their Super Hero Edition rides… well, consider the unfortunate implications.
