Renault has posted a handful of photos of its new Duster CUV along with the announcement of a business expansion in Turkey, Log reports.
The company plans to invest €400,000,000 into the Oyak Renault joint enterprise with the view of upgrading it to the status of a global vehicle export center. Once reconstructed, the industrial complex will provide Renault cars for 50 export markets. The estimated completion year is 2027.
Among other things, Renault plans to move the production of four car models to Turkey, including three crossover SUVs. According to Renault Group CEO in Turkey, Jan Ptacek, the next-gen Duster will be one of them while the other two remain to be revealed.
Local sales of the Renault Duster are scheduled to start in the second half of 2024. The company’s affordable sub-brand Dacia has already revealed its own Duster version (see photos 3–10 and the video). It remains to be seen how much different its Renault counterpart will be. In all likelihood, it will retain its petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. Renault Group is actively pursuing the development of HEV technologies and hopes that cars partially powered by electricity will make up to 33% of the total sales in Turkey. Another goal is to make sure that every vehicle on sale has a hybrid powertrain option.
