Having introduced the Renault Arkana in 2019, the French automaker was among the first to kickstart the coupe-SUV trend in Europe. It is now working on another car with the same body type, known as the Rafale.
Renault had used the nameplate before, but it was as far back as the 1930s, and the name belonged to a racing aircraft instead of a road car. What the modern Rafale will be like remains unknown, but Renault says it will be based on the CMF-CD platform and hybrid powertrain.
If we had to guess, we’d say the Rafale could be the coupe-like counterpart to the new Espace model, which transitioned from minivan into SUV in its latest generation. We will learn more on June 18, 2023.
