Renault teases a new pickup truck for Latin America

In its debuting teaser vid, the Renault Niagara is shaping up to be a cheap unibody truck for Latin America.

The video was posted by Renault on its Latin American channel on YouTube. It’s already official that the new model will be fully unveiled on September 10, 2026, and will go into production in Argentina. Sales in the region are penciled in for “late 2026”. It’s possible that other markets will get the Niagara later, although the company hasn’t confirmed it yet.

Based on the short vid, the pickup has a power-assisted bed and an exterior design that emphasizes its “light truck” aesthetic. Overall, it looks like the Niagara Concept revealed back in 2023 (see the gallery above), but simplified for mass production.

No powertrain details have been revealed. Three years ago when the concept debuted, it was introduced as a hybrid with an electric motor built into the rear axle. We suppose enough has happened in the EV industry to consider this information outdated.

Renault’s “futuREady” product strategy announced earlier this spring involves launching as many as 14 new vehicles worldwide over the next few years. This strategy doesn’t cover Europe and primarily focuses on affordable models for developing markets. The Niagara will be one of the first vehicles to go on sale from the futuREady lineup, so it should give us a rough idea of what to expect in terms of design and features.
