Facelifted Renault Kwid hatchback premieres in India

French car manufacturer Renault has introduced the updated Kwid hatchback series in India. The off-road-capable vehicle will soon ship with a new exterior design and more equipment.

Compared to the previous iteration, the new series features a chrome-coated radiator grille and door moldings with the model name written on it.

Interior changes are few and far between. The door knobs are now chromed, there is a new 12V power socket and safety belt pretensioners for the rear passengers.

There is only one new option, and that is a rear view camera. Contrary to our expectation, the developers never made ABS available in the new version. You may now order an additional airbag, though.

The Indian variant of Renault Kwid will ship with engines 0.8 to 1.0 liters large and producing between 54 and 68 hp (40 – 51 kW). All of these support manual transmission, and the 1.0-liter option supports semi-automatic.

The prices remain unchanged at U.S. $3,850 - $6,695.
