A rare right-hand-drive Renault Clio Williams will reach the auction in the UK soon, estimated at £30,000–35,000. The first production batch consisted of 3,800 units (see video), but only 390 were RHD.
Renault had intended to produce only 2,500 such cars for homologation purposes, but high customer interest prompted it to reconsider and eventually make over 12,000 units across three production series. This particular hatchback was number 180 and rolled off the belt 29 years ago.
The compact car weighs 981 kilos (2,163 pounds) and packs a 2.0-liter non-turbo engine rated at 147 PS (145 hp / 108 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is five-speed manual, and the chassis benefits from various tweaks made by Renault Sport. The top speed is caped at 215 km/h (133 mph).
All cars come finished in a dark blue metallic shade with gold-colored alloy wheels. Like the more common Clio 16S model, the Williams sports a ventilated bonnet, flared fenders, special bumpers and a muffler with a chromed tip.
The interior sports blue accents, has a stock cassette player installed and is in great overall condition. Around 5,000 km (3,100 miles) ago, the car underwent a thorough restoration that lasted three years and a half.
Perhaps this is why its current owner wants to sell it for so much despite the stated mileage of 208,277 km (129,417 miles).
