Renault Clio gets a fresh exterior after an update

French automaker Renault has shed some light on the planned upgrade of its Clio hatchback. The model gets revised looks and a new flagship trim called Esprit Alpine.

You will recognize the new Clio by its radiator grille, slimmer lights all around and a more aggressive front bumper. The shape of the DRLs references the company’s diamond logo. The base spec now offers a 7-inch dash display, while all higher trim levels offer a screen with 10 inches of diagonal size.

As for the Esprit Alpine, it sports unique design traits such as a three-spoke steering wheel, more prominent bumpers, sport seats and aluminum pedal pads.

Opting for the fastest version gets you a Clio Hybrid combining a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor and a starter-generator for 145 PS (143 hp / 107 kW) max. The more wallet-friendly options include basic three-cylinder engines rated at 65 PS (64 hp / 48 kW) and 90 PS (89 hp / 66 kW). A four-cylinder diesel rounds off the lineup with 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque.
