Even though the second generation is already out, the first-gen Renault Duster still enjoys brisk sales in India. The new environmental legislation led to it receiving a turbocharged gasoline engine heading into 2021.
The 1.3-liter, four-cylinder mill has been designed in collaboration with Daimler AG. It pairs up with six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission and churns out 154 hp (115 kW) along with 254 Nm (187 lb-ft) of torque.
The 1.5-liter diesel turbo option that used to be available in two forms (85 hp / 200 Nm and 110 hp / 245 Nm) leaves the production for good, and with it, so does all-wheel drive. The naturally aspirated 1.5-liter petrol burner rated at 106 hp (79 kW) and 142 Nm (105 lb-ft) is still there, but it only supports five-speed manual for transmission.
The Duster received a facelift in India a year ago that brought it up to date with the second generation as far as the appearance. The car is 4,360 mm long, 1,822 mm wide and 1,695 mm tall with 2,673 mm of wheelbase.
The top trim currently ships with 17-inch Forza wheels, LED DRLs and Crimson Red accents throughout the body. The interior makes use of imitation leather adorned with light blue stitching and an ornament. The central display measures seven inches across, and Arkamys six-channel audio system is available at a premium. New additions include a start/stop system, remote climate control on/off, and hill climb assist.
