Renault renames Kangoo to Express to sell it outside of Europe

The new Renault Kangoo may have plenty of new equipment and comfort-oriented features, but is comes at a hefty premium compared to the old model – this is why the company will be offering a separate version called Express in countries outside of Europe.

The Renault Express will be available in MPV and LCV variants based on the rather simplistic Dacia Dokker platform. The bodywork is almost entirely taken from the Dokker, with only the front fascia having some telltale Renault features.

The trim specification also screams ‘economy’: note especially the naked-metal door panels inside, rear windows that you can swing open, and the steering wheel that you can only adjust in terms of height.

Paying extra unlocks an infotainment system with a touch-enabled display, a rearview camera using the mirror as a display, satellite navigation, and other up-to-date options.

Powering the minivan is a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine good for 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW), although you could opt for a turbo diesel analog rated at 95 PS (94 hp / 70 kW).

Sales start in May.
