The Renault Kangoo is a fairly capable van, but not quite enough for sports. An owner from the UK reckoned that there was a missed opportunity there, so he rebuilt his Kangoo into a surprisingly fast sleeper.
On the outside, Speedline rims shod in Nankang NS-2R road-legal slicks are the only thing hinting at the new powertrain. Looking closer, you may notice Brembo HC disc brakes and Cooksport springs, while PBS Race brake pads and Eibach caber bolts remain hidden from view – but they are all there.
Why go to such lengths to tune a van, though? The answer becomes obvious when you pop up the engine lid. Where a tame diesel used to toil now resides a 200-horsepower Renault Clio engine. The hot hatch from which the mill was taken could only produce around 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW), but the tuner took care to replace the camshafts, install a polished and slotted intake, upgrade the air filter and the exhaust, and tweak the ECU accordingly.
Never mind the ‘Limited to 62 MPH’ sticker on the tailgate: the van hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 7 seconds and proceeds to accelerate from there.
Right now, the aptly named Renaultsport Kangoo is up for grabs in the UK for a buy-it-now price of £6,999.
