Three years after the initial market launch of the fourth-gen Renault Megane, Renault has finally made it available with a 1.7-liter Blue dCi diesel engine. You can buy it with any trim version currently on the market.
The unit churns out 148 hp (110 kW) and 340 Nm (250 lbĂ—ft) of torque, the latter attainable at 1,750 RPM and above. It ships in conjunction with a six-speed automatic transmission. According to the company, the Blue dCi-powered Renault Megane needs between 9.3 and 9.5 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph), depending on the body style.
In terms of fuel efficiency, the new engine is said to consume around 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers traveled while in an urban area (GB: 53.3 MPG; USA: 44.4 MPG). On a straight highway, it usually needs one liter less than that (GB: 65.7 MPG; USA: 54.7 MPG). Mixed-mode consumption amounts to 4.6l per 100 km (GB: 61.4 MPG; USA: 51.1 MPG).
Aside from the new engine, the Renault Megane estate/wagon now ships in a new trim version called Estate Limited. It sports such distinguishing features as power-assisted side mirrors painted black, tinted windows, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and special logos. Inside, the car houses a high-end infotainment system with a 7-inch display along with a range of electronic safety-oriented features.
