Renault has taken the wraps off a compact all-electric variant of its Megane best-seller, the Megane E-Tech. The newcomer will go on sale alongside its larger ICE counterpart.
The car comes based on the same CMF-EV platform as the Nissan Ariya, but is limited to front-wheel drive. The most affordable version packs 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW) and 250 Nm (183 lb-ft) of torque, while its 40-kWh battery grants up to 300 km (186 miles) of WLTP range.
A higher spec comes with 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. It benefits from a larger 60-kWh battery and gets 470 km (292 miles) of range. It needs 7.4 seconds for the standard sprint exercise and maxes out at 160 km/h (99 mph).
Interior features include a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a vertical infotainment touchscreen in 9- and 12-inch sizes. LED headlights and pull-out front door handles come standard.
There will be three trim levels to choose among, named Equilibre, Iconic, and Techno. The production will take place in Douai, France, with pre-orders set to begin in February and offline sales in March 2022.
