The Renault Megane has spun off a new – and final – RS edition. Dubbed the Ultime, the car is set to go on sale this spring replacing the current RS and RS Trophy models (see video). Once all 1976 units are sold, the RS badge will become history.
The Ultime edition is largely about cosmetic details, such as special body graphics, black accents, widened wheel arches and a different tailpipe. Interior novelty boils down to Recaro bucket seats and a serial number plaque signed by Laurent Hurgon, the racing driver who set multiple track records recently behind the steering wheel of a Megane RS.
The default equipment list includes a 9.3-inch infotainment screen, a telemetry unit, advanced Bose audio, 4-wheel steering and 19-inch wheels shod in semi-slicks.
Like the regular Megane RS, the Ultime churns out 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) at the crank.
Once the RS nameplate retires, Renault plans to produce all of its sportier vehicles under the Alpine badging.
