Renault has discontinued the Talisman lineup, getting rid of both the sedan and the wagon. According to Motor1, this could be dictated by the changing customer preferences in the segment.
Apparently, most Renault brand fans would rather drive a crossover SUV in this price segment. This mirrors Volkswagen’s decision to retire the Passat sedan, although the company is keeping the jacked-up Alltrack variant on the market for now.
Rumors that Renault was planning on ditching less popular cars started circulating in late 2021, and the Talisman was named as the main candidate for retirement, even though the company cared enough to facelift it earlier that year.
From summer 2020 onwards, Talisman buyers in France could choose from three diesel engines and one petrol one. The diesels offered between 150 and 200 horsepower and could be obtained with a six-speed manual or DC transmission. The gas engine made 160 horsepower in tandem with a seven-speed DCT. The sedan started from 33,400 euros and the wagon from 34,600 euros.
This leaves the Renault Megane the marque’s only wagon in Europe. The model starts from 29,150 euros and is available as a PHEV, among other versions.
