Limited-issue Renault Twingo aspires to be a sports car

Just a few days ago, Renault took the wraps off its refreshed Renault Twingo city car. Today, the company announced a special edition of the Twingo, called ‘Le Coq Sportif’.

The limited series will ship in multiple paint choices, but all of them will reference the French tricolor flag in some way.

Looking inside the car, you will see branded floor mats and door sills, a polished aluminum plaque with the name of the series engraved on it, and custom trimming on the dashboard, gear selector and some other elements.

The Renault Twingo Le Coq Sportif will ship with a choice between two engines, a 1.0-liter unit good for 75 hp (56 kW) and a 0.9 turbo with 93 hp (69 kW). The former comes bundled with a manual gearbox, while the latter can be obtained with an optional semi-automatic transmission.

Standard equipment includes a multimedia system with a touchscreen display and smartphone support, climate control, rain and light sensors, and a back-up camera.
