Renault has confirmed that it will soon be discontinuing the Twingo model permanently. However, the urban car niche will not stay empty: a new vehicle is in the works based on the prototype known as the Renault 5 EV (watch the video if you missed it).
The Twingo has gone through three generations and received its last update in 2019. The third generation has been around since 2014, and an all-electric version of it came out late last year. As of the time of writing, you can still purchase both the ICE car and the EV via authorized dealerships.
In all likelihood, Renault will attempt to keep the Twingo on the market until the replacement is ready to ship.
