Renault Zoe gets ready to rule the compact EV market

Ever since the French car manufacturer launched its Zoe compact in Europe in 2012, it has been making it better and better. Still, the latest upgrade promises to become its most extensive and impressive to date.

The 2020 Renault Zoe packs a large 52 kWh traction battery reportedly sufficient for 345 kilometers (214 miles) of WLTP-rated range. Faster charging enables it to replenish enough power for another 145 kilometers (90 miles) of range in just 30 minutes.

Among other things, the new Zoe packs a stronger electric motor rated at 133 hp (100 kW) and 245 Nm (181 lb-ft) of torque. It needs precisely ten seconds to get to 100 km/h (62 mph) and maxes out at 140 km/h (87 mph). A more affordable version with 108 hp (81 kW) is also going to be available.

The cabin also boasts plenty of improvements, including higher-grade trim materials, a new dashboard, an advanced multimedia system with smartphone connectivity, and a wireless charging device.
