Not long ago, car media caught wind of Volkswagen Group being interested in a merger deal with Rimac Automobili. The alleged contract envisioned VW gaining a large share in the Croatian supercar maker and Rimac being put in charge of Bugatti. Today, some new details have surfaced.
It is reported that Porsche, which is a part of VW Group, and Rimac will establish a new company named Bugatti-Rimac with 45% of ownership in the hands of the Germans and the remaining 55% in the hands of the Croatians. The Stuttgart company will allegedly control a 24% share in the Rimac Group.
The joint enterprise should be officially registered before the end of the current year with headquarters in Zagreb, Croatia. The HQ will then relocate to Rimac Campus, St. Nedelya, Croatia a few years later. The investment in the joint factory is being estimated at €200,000,000. The premises will occupy an area of 100,000 square meters and employ around 2,500 people.
Rimac’s latest vehicle is an all-electric hypercar named the Nevera (look inside our gallery for an overview).
