The company says it has already pre-ordered 100 units for its delivery network, despite the concept status of the car.
The Rivian design department is currently polishing the exterior of the van, trying to make it smoother and more aerodynamic. In turn, Amazon test drivers use a software simulator to see how the van performs in automated warehouse conditions.
Rivian says it will be launching three versions of the same van with different wheelbase lengths. First units should roll off the assembly lines next year, and by 2022, the automaker expects to have produced up to 10,000 electric vans.
