Rivian reports 56 R1T trucks produced in a month, frustrating buyers

Electric vehicle startup Rivian has only managed to piece together 56 units of its pickup truck, the R1T, after a month of production. Out of 42 units shipped so far, most went to the employees of the factory, leaving customers waiting for their pre-orders.

Granted, Rivian can still pick up the pace after sorting out the initial batch, but the company made every effort to demonstrate how far ahead it was of its direct competitors when it launched the production lines. In reality, it has so far been assembling a dismal 2 trucks per day, making 12 in September and another 44 this month. Compared against 48,000 reported pre-orders, the number is far from adequate.

We will keep you updated if the situation changes, of course. For now, it looks like Rivian still has to sort out early production issues before it can begin large-scale deliveries of its much-hyped electric pickup.
