Having an electric motor on every wheel makes the Rivian R1T a particularly great truck for off-roading enthusiasts out there, but would you dare send your expensive EV into a lake just because you got tired of waiting?
This was the case with the owner of this R1T pickup who came to Bear Lake, Idaho, for a relaxing boat trip. The crowds were particularly large that day and he reckoned he could spend hours waiting to get access to the quay and finally ease the boat into the water. He slammed the accelerator pedal and went nose first into the water, then turned around and sailed the boat.
At a first glance, it looks like the electric pickup escaped the ordeal unharmed. However, most drivers prefer using heavily modded trucks and even occasionally tractors for such tasks. Pulling a stunt like this in a factory-stock EV seems like a bad idea, especially if your insurance company gets its hands on the footage.
