Battery pack producer Optima Batteries has announced a complex tuning kit coming for the Rivian R1T (see video) that transforms the electric pickup into a hardcore off-roader.
Based on the only teaser pic revealed thus far, the truck gets a sturdy front bumper, some additional lighting and bronze-hued rims shod in all-terrain rubber.
It also benefits from skid guards and rocks a bedside rack containing a spare wheel and a couple of water cans. The main highlight of the build, however, is an Optima Power Station on board that can be used to power a variety of external appliances through 12V, 110V and 220V sockets. In addition to this functionality, it can also be used for powering the truck itself – but, unless we are mistaken, it is implemented as charging one battery from another, a rather slow and inefficient process compared to a direct battery-motor link.
Anyway, we will be learning more about the build at the SEMA show starting next week, so stay tuned!
