The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust purchased an all-electric Rivian R1T and turned it into a unique open-top eight-seater for tourists.
The truck lost its standard roof and the partition wall between the cab and the bed. The windshield was chopped at the top and a tall tent was installed on custom supports above the seating area. Despite half of the b-pillars missing, the car still has rear side doors.
A look inside reveals eight seats arranged in an amphitheater fashion with the rear passengers sitting higher up than the rest for better visibility. Most importantly, though, the tuners took care to move the steering wheel to the right-hand side. Rivian never offered a RHD R1T model, so this example may very well be completely unique.
The MWCT plans to use the truck as a tourist hauler in the national parks of Africa, for education purposes, and for discreet patrolling and poacher detention purposes. A zero-emission, silent vehicle looks perfect for all purposes mentioned above.
