Video: A behind-the-scenes look at the GMC, Ford & Rivian e-truck production lines

YouTuber Frame has posted a video revealing how the leading electric trucks are assembled in the United States. The footage shows the Rivian R1T, the Ford F-150 Lightning and the GMC Hummer EV on their course from the first welded frame parts to the QA testing.

As you will notice straight away, all the assembly lines are highly automated with robots supervising most processes from welding to painting. You can also find the assorted elevators, manipulators and robotic carts at work there.

Our personal highlight is the integration of the giant traction battery in the GMC Hummer EV body. It is also worth seeing how Ford attaches the cab to the platform and the bed, as well as checking out Rivian’s six-axis manipulators tasked with gluing the windshield in place.
