Go Fast Campers, an aftermarket designer of compact and practical truck-based campers, has announced two products for the all-electric Rivian R1T. They are expected to ship in August in a variety of finishes to choose from.
Although the carmaker itself advertises the R1T as a vehicle for the adventurous of heart, it doesn’t offer any camping upgrades for it aside from a basic tonneau cover. Go Fast Campers approaches the task with much more enthusiasm than that, offering a $5,000 topper and a $9,450 collapsible camping tent. You can already enter a $100 advance payment, and the installation will cost $300.
The tent is nearly flat when folded and has a sturdy enough case to double as a roof rack. Right now, the company is trying to work out how to avoid blocking the truck’s shark-fin antenna on the roof and how to make sure the tailgate flips down normally with the topper installed. If these issues are solved quickly, production may begin in August.
