Roewe had previously only sold its Ei5 all-electric wagon in China, but started exporting it to Great Britain under the name “MG5 EV” in September, and now, also to Thailand as “MG EP”.
All exported cars are identical to the China spec except for driving range, power and steering wheel position.
Prices in Thailand begin from 988,000 Thai Baht, which is roughly the same as the £24,000 UK asking price. Domestic buyers get it for 140,800 Yuan, which is 1.5 times as cheap.
The MG EP comes powered by a single motor rated at 163 PS (121 hp / 90 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft), which links to a 52.5-kWh battery. The driving range amounts to 380 kilometers (236 miles) according to the outdated NEDC measurement standard. The actual range should be closer to 230 – 280 km (143 – 174 miles).
