Roewe RX8, a new Chinese off-road vehicle which will arrive on the domestic market later this year, has been officially introduced today by its creator, SAIC Motor Corporation Limited.
The car is based on another SAIC vehicle, the body-on-frame Maxus D90. Its exterior appearance follows the general design direction of the brand. It has been previously announced that the new Roewe RX8 will be available in China in five- and seven-seat modifications.
Industry professionals speculate that the newcomer gets a 2,4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 225 horsepower at most. It should be coupled with a six-speed manual transmission. Being a crossover, the new Roewe RX8 will come equipped with an on-demand 4WD.
SAIC said it was exploring the possibility (or, more precisely, market viability) of releasing the Roewe RX8 outside of China.
