Chinese brand Roewe – part of SAIC Group – has unveiled its latest premium SUV, the RX9. The large vehicle gets wheels up to 21 inches large and two different cabin layouts, as well as a giant 47-inch display divided into three screens. The full reveal will follow on Friday, August 26.
The SUV is 4,983 mm long, 1,967 mm wide and 1,786 mm tall with 2,915 mm separating the axles. It has a sporty-looking body, elaborate bumpers, slim headlights and a novel radiator grille the company calls Ronglin, a trapezoid with a textured cellular pattern inside.
Customers will be choosing between six and seven seats, the former option replacing the second-row bench with two individual, flexibly adjustable seats. Expensive premium materials will be standard for all trims.
The 47-inch display mentioned above spans the entire dashboard and serves as a digital gauge cluster, an infotainment screen and a front passenger’s screen all at once. Physical controls are limited, but present nonetheless.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged engine drives all four wheels with 234 PS (231 hp / 172 kW) through a nine-speed automatic transmission. Adaptive suspension could be on the list of options, but let’s not speculate too much – we will be learning more the day after tomorrow.
