SAIC-owned car brand Roewe has posted the first photos of its upcoming business sedan named D7 DMH. According to AutoHome, it is a range-extender hybrid with an impressive 1,400 km (870 miles) of range. The sales should start closer towards the end of the year.
Like its all-electric sibling, the D7 EV shown in the video below, the hybrid is 4,890 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,510 mm tall with 2,810 mm of wheelbase. Compared to the EV, it has different headlights, radiator grille and front bumper, but otherwise looks identical.
Detailed powertrain specifications remain to be announced. All we know right now is that it consists of two electric motors, a petrol engine acting as a power generator and a modest-sized battery. The purely electric range doesn’t exceed 125 km (77.7 miles), but topping up the tank lets you cover great distances in hybrid mode. The range quoted above remains to be confirmed, though.
The D7 is Roewe’s first production car designed in line with the manufacturer’s strategy of transitioning to ‘new energy sources’. Over the next three years, the Chinese company expects to launch as many as eight new eco-friendly vehicles, including sedans, SUVs and vans.
