According to reports awaiting confirmation at this point, Rolls-Royce has started working on an autonomous electric car that it hopes to be able to reveal before the end of the year.
The British luxury automaker had so far refrained from making announcements concerning the electrification of its vehicle range. Back in 2017, the company said it would try to skip the hybrid stage and go straight for all-electric car production when it becomes viable. A year later, it admitted that high demand in China might speed up these processes.
Rumor has it that Rolls-Royce has already come up with a brand-new, all-electric test car put inside a Phantom body. The study allegedly draws upon the bizarre 103EX Concept (see photos and the video) while sharing the powertrain and tech with the upcoming BMW iX and i7.
USA and China are being named among the main target markets for the EV.
