The British luxury automaker has shared a new video focused on an innovative noise proofing system found in the next-gen Ghost saloon.
The engineering crew has managed to insulate the inner space of the car from all sounds coming from the world outside, in no small extent thanks to the new aluminum chassis. However, to prevent the occupants of the car from losing their sense of reality, a special system was implemented that can produce aesthetically pleasing artificial sounds of its own.
The vehicle features dual-layer sound insulation between the engine and the cabin. The entire trunk area, floor, ceiling and doors come lined with sound absorbing panels. A thick layer of foam in the tires and composite materials in the glass serve the same purpose.
However, as complete silence can cause disorientation due to sensory deprivation, a special system was implemented to produce so-called ‘whispers’. It utilizes shock absorbers built into seat backs to melt all sounds into one soft note.
