Starting today, the second-gen Rolls-Royce Ghost can be obtained in a long-wheelbase version called Extended. Like its predecessor, the LWB model adds 170 millimeters (6.64 inches) of inter-axle spacing over the standard version and thus comes precariously close to the length of the “normal” Phantom.
To be specific, the Ghost Extended measures 5,716 mm long (+147 mm to the length of the Gen.1 LWB model), 1,978 mm wide (+30) and 1,571 mm tall (+21) with 3,465 mm between the axles (unchanged). DIN-rated curb weight is 2,530 kilograms (5,577 lbs).
The manufacturer claims that only the Phantom Extended offers more rear passenger legroom in the four-door saloon market right now. Given its length of 5,962 mm and wheelbase of 3,752 mm, this is hardly surprising. In contrast, the regular Phantom is 5,762 mm long and has 3,552 mm between the axles, making it only marginally larger than the Ghost.
The Ghost Extended is technically identical to the regular Rolls-Royce Ghost. Its Serenity rear seats are comparable in terms of comfort to business jet seats. The fridge supports two temperature settings: 6 and 11 degrees Celcius (deemed optimal for non-vintage and vintage champagne, respectively). Clients may now opt for two new wood trim oprions: Obsidian Ayous, which sports a volcanic rock texture, and Dark Amber, which combines amber warmth with thin, cool aluminum wires.
