The 111-year old Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost makes a comeback

The major British car manufacturer Rolls-Royce has announced the forthcoming release of a limited car series dedicated to the 111th anniversary of the legendary Silver Ghost sedan. Driven by Charles Rolls and Claude Johnson in the faraway 1907, the original vehicle has traveled over 23,000 kilometers (14,300+ miles) without a single breakdown – a completely unheard-of engineering achievement back at the time.

The company plans to issue a grand total of 35 Rolls-Royce Ghost cars. Will they have anything that would make them truly stand out in the crowd?

But of course! For one, each vehicle will be adorned with the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy bonnet ornament which has been the trademark of the company for over 100 years now. The Spirit itself will be pure silver, whereas the pedestal it stands on will be gilded. The rest of the car body will be painted Cassiopeia Silver – also an homage to the original color of the 1907 car.

The interior of the new Rolls-Royce Ghost will also try and mimic that of its spiritual ancestor as close as possible. There will be an abundance of luxury-grade leather and silver adornments.

Remarkably enough, the original Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost is still up and running. The vehicle has changed ownership plenty of times and currently belongs to Bentley.
