The British ultra-luxury carmaker promised to build three Boat Tail examples, and brought the second one to the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa D’Este in Italy.
The company began work on the car by picking four pearl clams from the collection of the buyer, a professional pearl fisher. These carefully chosen clams decided the exterior finish of the car, which incorporated off-orange oyster and tender pink tones. The traditional Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament was also cast from pink gold.
The cabin greets the viewer with matching pink leather, while the rear end makes use of natural wood. Mother-of-pearl décor can be found on the dashboard and gear lever, and there is a clock with a pearlescent face on the passenger’s side of the interior.
Like the first Boat Tail, the luxobarge features an original trunk concealing two folding stools, a parasol and a picnic set. There is also a dedicated wine box. Power comes from the same engine as the one that powers the Phantom: a 6.75-liter V12 rated at 571 PS (563 hp / 420 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque.
The exterior of the vehicle has been deliberately designed to resemble that of a marine yacht. All pricing details are private and closely guarded, but rumor has it the first Boat Tail cost its buyer an equivalent of $28,000,000 USD. The third one shall never have a public premiere, per the buyer’s request.
