Rolls-Royce will not be selling its first electric car until 2024 or so, and Vincent Yu, an entrepreneur from Canada, was in no position to wait.
However you look at this bizarre project, something inevitably fails to add up. But keep with us here. According to Yu, his daughter came home from school once lecturing him about how harmful a V12 was for the environment. She then refused to ride in the Rolls-Royce, incentivizing him to set a good example by switching it to electric propulsion.
The project lasted four years and cost Yu and his family dearly – in all senses. The businessman made numerous trips to the USA and flights overseas to procure all the required parts, putting a strain on himself and his loved ones. His wife and daughter left him to let him concentrate on his work, and later on, he faced the need to sell his home in order to fund the project.
Shockingly enough, the tale ends well with Yu’s Rolls-Royce running around on Tesla tech and his family living under the same roof with him once again. The man now intends to start an EV conversion business, no less, using the experience and the contacts he gained over these years. As nice as that may sound, the car in the video barely crawls and is jarringly loud for an EV. It also appears to have broken front suspension. We aren’t going to jump to any conclusions here, and will keep you updated if we learn more about this bizarre project.
