Electrogenic has taken a 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom and persuaded it to run on battery power. According to the company, the modification is fully reversible.
The team began by scanning the entire vehicle with a laser to find the optimal spot to put a 93-kWh battery in. It ultimately slid under the hood, where a giant 7.7-liter six-cylinder engine used to toil, pumping out a meek 50 horsepower (37 kilowatts).
The hopelessly outdated mill has been replaced with a 204-PS (201-hp / 150-kW) electric motor. Electrogenic admits that the range is a little underwhelming at just 240 km (150 miles), but says it is still quite an achievement given the sheer weight of the car and its suboptimal high-drag design.
