Actor Jason Momoa, whom you may know for his roles in A Game of Thrones series, DC universe movies and the more recent Fast & Furious instalments, has ordered a unique electric conversion of a 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II, Top Gear reports.
In the latest episode of his documentary, On the Roam, Momoa talks about the car pointing out that it could be reverted to its original state – Electrogenic, which carried out the conversion, has managed to preserve the petrol engine and four-speed manual transmission.
The tuning company calls the project its boldest and most challenging so far, pointing out that it took a year and a half to complete. The car retained its original bodywork by HJ Mulliner and Co., but traded its 7.7-liter inline six-cylinder engine for a 93-kWh battery pack encased in an aluminum housing. An electric motor situated directly behind the battery and between the frame side members outputs 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) to the wheels through a single-speed reduction gear.
With the engine gone, the tuner also had to devise a different oiling system for the chassis and the brake actuator. The brake system has been upgraded with a hydraulic power mechanism and a power regenerator.
The interior was also allowed to keep its antique leather and wood trim, while the dashboard traded the fuel meter for a charge indicator. Once fully charged, the retro car can go on for roughly 240 km (150 miles).
No pricing details have been mentioned by either party involved in the project.
