Car manufacturer Fisker has released the first teaser dedicated to its upcoming pure electric SUV to rival the Tesla Model Y. The car’s main distinguishing feature comes in the form of solar panels spanning the entire length of its roof and used to replenish the main traction battery.
The company claims this is the first SUV in the world to take advantage of solar panels covering its entire top. Furthermore, this configuration does not prevent it from having a power-assisted roof hatch that you can slide open with a press of a button.
In an earlier press release, we learned that the car would cost U.S. $40,000 and come equipped with two electric motors drawing their power from an 80 kWh battery. Once fully charged, you will be able to drive it as far as 480 kilometers (300 miles).
In the beginning of this year, Fisker unveiled another wannabe Tesla killer called the Emotion. The four-door coupe-SUV featured a part-compound, part-aluminum body, gull-wing rear doors and a huge 143 kWh battery sufficient for 650 kilometers (400 miles) of range.
